1990 Ayrton Senna Replica Rheos McLaren Honda F1 Helmet
The 1990 Senna Rheos is one of the most iconic and sought after helmets in the helmet collecting world. Rheos is an exceedingly rare helmet (manufactured by Honda) and used by just two drivers in Formula 1 history, Gerhard Berger and Ayrton Senna. The Rheos was used for only for two seasons (1990 and 91) and this beautiful replica is accurate to the smallest details from the correct radio installed down to Senna’s distinctive green helmet lining.
Senna is arguably the greatest driver in Formula One history, and his career likely would have stacked up even better had he not perished in the 1994 Imola crash at age 34.
Senna won three World Championships (1988, 1990 and 1991) with runner-up finishes in 1989 and ’93. He would win 41 races (fifth all-time) and score 65 poles (third) during his spectacular career, but it was his qualifying dominance during a three-year period that will likely never be duplicated.
Senna had a streak of 24 front-row starts, including 23 poles, from 1988 to 1989. After qualifying fifth at Phoenix, he would score four more poles to give him 27 poles in 29 races driving the Honda Marlboro McLaren.
Senna won 10 or more poles in a season three times — 13 each in 1989 and ’89, with 10 in ’90. He won races in nine consecutive seasons, including eight in 1988, seven in ’91 and six each in ’89 and ’90.
The manufacturer never offered the helmets for public sale or to any other drivers before they pulled out at the end of 1991 season thus leading to it’s exclusivity and desirability. This replica offers you the chance to add this iconic helmet to your collection.
