Ward started off his career racing in Motocross 1978-1996 culminating in 56 wins ad many championships, he then turned his attention to four wheel motorsports with 7 years in IndyCar series with 3 top 5 finishes in the Indy 500 out of 7 starts. He then had stints in Rallycross, sportscars, stadium trucks, NASCAR then more Motocross, winning two AMA Championships, as well as two golds and a silver medal for Moto X in the X games.
