2016 Fernando Alonso Signed Race Used McLaren F1 Helmet
Helmet worn during by Fernando during the 2016 F1 season while driving for McLaren. The helmet was spotted in use during the British GP. The helmet has been signed on the crown in black marker.
Alonso is best known for his back-to-back World Drivers’ Championships with Renault in 2005 and 2006. He would win seven races in each of those Formula One seasons, for a total of 17 with the team. The Spaniard debuted in F1 in 2001 with Minardi, and would go on to score his first pole in his second race with Renault in 2003, in Malaysia. His first victory would then come in the Hungarian Grand Prix that same year, with his most recent win coming at his home race at Catalunya in 2013 for Scuderia Ferrari.
Alonso won 11 F1 races while driving for the Ferrari and another 4 with McLaren — for a total of 32 victories, which ranks him sixth all-time. His natural talent and innate ability to adapt with different teams over different time periods continues to this day with the Alpine F1 team. The perfect illustration of this was when Alonso was poised to win the 2017 Indianapolis 500 in his maiden start, but engine trouble befelled him on Lap 179 of 200. He would finish 29th, after having started fifth, and led 27 laps in a McLaren-sponsored Andretti Autosport car.
A great opportunity to add a helmet from one of F1’s most popular World Champions to your collection.
The helmet comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
